Before reaching the post-student time with limited holidays and limiting obligations, Anja wanted to follow one of her longer-lasting objectives to work in a developmental aid project. She applied successfully for a stipend and worked for three months in an HIV education program in the Rift Valley in Western Kenya. Tobi visited her at the end of her stay and together we travelled Kenya on a shoestring, a pretty thick one though.

      

Starting in Nairobi, we discovered the coast around Watamu, the lowlands with the Massai Mara NP and the highlands around Kitale, the region where Anja had worked.
